BACKGROUND (25 years as instructor)
Susan taught Tai Chi for Health for 10 years to patients in the Cleveland Clinic's Chronic Pain Rehab Program, 15 years at The Gathering Place (for lives touched by cancer) where research with breast cancer survivors explored their functional recovery using her Table Top Tai Chi series.
Tai Chi benefits & research have been introduced to medical professionals at Metro, University Hospitals, Dayton VA, & The Cleveland Clinic including departments of Geriatrics, Pain Management, Neo-natal Nurses, Family Medicine, Spine Center, Occupational & Physical Therapy In-Services.
WHO CAN BENEFIT?
Experiencing Tai chi with chronic pain patients focused Susan toward practical, experiential demos throughout the Cleveland area, CMHA sites, Metro Hospital's Senior Forum, Wade Park VA's Domiciliary, the State of Ohio Training Association, NAMI support groups, Ohio Women of the Outdoors, Marysville Women's Prison, and the Women's Northeast Ohio Reintegration Center.
"The Skill to Chill" Tai Chi for Health works as a wellness program for all ages, elementary through high school students. Susan has taught outdoor sessions at the Berea Children's Home and Beaumont School, at Shaker Library for kids with sickle cell, students at University School and Collinwood High.
CURRENT CLASSES post-Covid (see Classes link) include the Euclid & Warrensville Heights Senior Centers, and sponsored by Benjamin Rose Centers at the East Cleveland Salvation Army.
Classes at assisted living facilities include Emerald Solon Pointe, Aberdeen Crossing, McGregor Pace, & Saber Bath Estates.
FUTURE RESEARCH POSSIBILITIES: Long Covid folks report symptoms which parallel the women with fibromyalgia in the Cleveland Clinic Chronic Pain Rehab Program, where participants reported great relief from Susan’s Tai Chi for Health sessions. Let’s research release & recovery!
